Yesterday, the ICJ confirmed that 35 UN member states filed written statements in the case opened by Serbia which challenges the legality of the Kosovo's unilateral independence declaration made in February 2008. For Sabine Freizer, Programme director at the International Crisis Group (ICG), an opinion in favor of Kosovo would definitely engage more States in the international community to recognize it as an independent State although she foresees a nuanced opinion from the ICJ.
