The head of States and governements gave their support to the reelection of José Manuel Barosso during the EU Summit on 18-19 June 2009. Yet, this political back-up does not seem to be followed by the members of the European Parliament whose votes Barosso still needs to earn during their first session in mid-July. When the Greens and the Socialists seem vehemently against another term, the first force in the European Parliament, the EPP, seemingly believes their candidate will make it.
