14th anniversary of Srebrenica
July 11th, 2009 will mark the 14th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre. Earlier this year, in January, the European Parliament overwhelmingly adopted a resolution (by 556 to 9, with 22 abstentions) proclaiming the 11th of July a Day of Commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide throughout the European Union. MEPs Diana Wallis (UK-ALDE) and Jelko Kacin (SO-ALDE) who co-inititated the resolution attended the commemoration organized in Srebrenica last year.
