Decentralization: a solution for Kosovo minorities?

In the context of the presentation of the Ahtisaari plan for the future status of Kosovo, this TV report highlights the issues at stake for both communities in Kosovo in the field of local government.

The concept of decentralization is the cornerstone of the proposal presented by UN Envoy Martti Ahtisaari on the future status of Kosovo. Can it work? Is decentralization of power the key to the survival of Serbian and other minorities in Kosovo? SEETV explores what decentralization means for different Kosovo municipalities.

The TV report was jointly produced by a Serbian and Kosovar team. It was broadcast on Serbia's first public channel RTS1 on 31 January 2007 in prime time, and on Euronews on loop during one week in January 2007. It will be broadcast on Kosovo's public channel RTK in the days to come.
