Hearing: The impact of the global financial and economic crisis on the industrial sectors of Eastern European countries (Day 1); Industrial change in Croatia (Day 2), Organised by the Consultative Commission on Industrial Change of theEuropean Economic and Social Committee (EESC). This event will be held at the Croatian Chamber of Economy of Zagreb; from 13:30 to 18:00.

April 27-28 | Luxembourg

General Affairs and External Relations Council Meeting

The Council will open its meeting with an assessment of the state of play of accession negotiations with Croatia (10:00). The Council will also be discussing the preparations for the Social Troika Summit on employment and for the Southern Corridor summit which will be held in Prague on 7 and 8 May respectively.

Stabilisation and Association Council EU – Croatia

At 18:00, in the margin of the Council, EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn will attend the EU - Croatia Stabilisation and Association Council meeting. It will focus on the stock of negotiations with Croatia on accession to the EU, following the postponement of an intergovernmental conference (IGC) at deputy level and given the Commission’s involvement in resolving border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia. Bologna Process ministerial meeting

This Ministerial Conference of the Bologna Process will be hosted by the Benelux countries (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg). Ministers responsible for higher education from Albania, BiH, Croatia, FYROM, Montenegro and Serbia will meet with their peers from the other Bologna Process countries to discuss the developments since the last ministerial meeting in 2007, and decide on future activities.

Outgoing President of Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski will meet with EU High Representative Javier Solana (10:00) and, later, with EU enlargement Commissioner Olli REHN. Press point to be held at the end of afternoon.

Conference: Le Kosovo et sa perspective européenne, Organised by the Maison de l’Europe de Paris, with the participation of Muhamedin KULLASHI, Kosovo Embassy of Paris. A photo exhibition on Kosovo by Aferdita Ibrahimaj and Bruno Fertwill be held prior to the debates. From 18:30 to 20:30.

Workshop: “Greening the Energy Community”. This workshop, organised by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), will focus on the recently adopted EU Renewable Energy Directive that includes provisions for cooperation mechanisms and joint projects with implications for Energy Community Contracting Parties (Albania, BiH, Croatia, FYROM, Montenegro, Serbia and the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo) and Observers.

on Western Balkans, on the report of MEP Anna IBRISAGIC (EPP-ED, SE)
Consolidating stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans; followed by the
Council and Commission statements on Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

President of European Parliament Hans-Gert Pöttering will meet with mothers
from Srebrenica at 12h30.

Presentation of annual report on media freedom in Serbia.

include representatives of relevant state authorities, NGO's and journalists'
associations.

RCC Conference
: EU Commissioner for Science and Research Janez POTOCNIK will deliver a keynote speech at the Ministerial Conference "Developing Regional Research Strategy for the Western Balkans". The aim of the conference is to promote the project of Regional Research Strategy for the Western Balkans which supports communication and cooperation among scientific and research communities of the Western Balkans.
